Nidhi Nathaniel

Founder

Nidhi Nathaniel holds a background in clinical psychology, psychological counseling and guidance. Karuna was envisaged during her journey as an spectator who wanted to be a doer. Driven by her passion for reaching out to people and giving back to society - initiated ‘Karuna'- to bring a mental health awareness program in India.

The surge of mental health issues in children & adolescents beseech for immediate attention. Hence this project focuses on major mental health issues in the school children. Nidhi believes if we are able to inculcate a healthy concept of ‘self’ at a young age it will refine & enhance their coping strategies for the future challenges.

Nidhi loves her 6 year old son and considers him to be her inspiration & fuel. Her hobbies include writing, poetry and traveling.

In the reverence and remembrance of my loving parents - "I am planting a small seed in anticipation of a strong evergreen tree".



Dr. Neeti Wilson

Managing Trustee, RATANAKAR MERCY TRUST

Neeti has a Ph.D in Applied Sciences and is a Lawyer by profession.

She believes in education to be best tool for empowering individuals of all classes, gender and places. Educated and aware people make the foundation for the society with justice and growth. The overall development of society goes beyond scholastics and includes care and concern for fellow humans.

Neeti loves music, reading, watching movies and travelling. She enjoys meeting people and trying local cuisines.



Pooja Chilukuri

Health and Nutrition Coach, Author

Pooja has a background in Nutritional Therapy and Health Coaching. She is currently working both as a Nutrition counsellor as well as an early childhood educator. She is passionate about empowering individuals to take control of their health, through education and coaching. Her hobbies include writing, reading and spending time in nature.

Pooja believes that seeds for healthy adult life must be sown in childhood and therefore is passionate about educating children regarding proper nourishment and healthy lifestyle habits. The impact of diet and lifestyle on mental health must not be ignored, and it is to this end that Pooja is committed to spreading awareness through educational classes and workshops.

I envision Karuna to be a tool that empowers children of today to become both physically and mentally thriving adults of tomorrow. We may not change the whole world, but we can hope to change the world for some of these children.



Shachi Sinha

Project Director

Shachi holds a masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Public Administration. Propelled by her interest in social services she has been a part of National Service Schemes, making contributions in reaching out and helping others.

Education in psychology has always aspired her to apply her knowledge by associating herself with a social work group and hence she embraced Karuna when she got to know about its vision and philosophy. She considers mental health awareness to be the need of the hour & eagerly looks forward to do her part.

She firmly believes every child is unique and so are his or her needs, therefore the right guidance at the right age can be instrumental in shaping their future. Mother of a seven year old,who means the world to her, Shachi enjoys music, yoga and meditation, photography & trekking.

Shachi believes being able to help others is both a privilege and a blessing.



Ms. Anuradha Naidu

Psychologist

Ms Anuradha Naidu - M.A, M.Phil in clinical psychology. P G D S E, Grad Certification in Inclusive Education (UMass,USA). Diploma in Chinese Acupuncture ( HKU, Hong Kong).

She is a practitioner with experience of 30 years. A special educator dealing with mental health issues of families both urban and rural. Currently is a guest faculty at WCC Chennai and B.Ed - Inclusive Education at Vidyasagar Chennai. She is a regular contributor to Learning Curve - a journal of Azim Premji University.

Ms. Naidu has been part of a UNESCO - university of Cambridge research collaboration of 5 nations on Inclusion.

Ms. Naidu has worked closely with International families in Hong Kong and in India with urban and rural families both from South and North India



Ms. Bhawna Purohit

Psychologist

Ms. Bhawna Purohit is Rehab psychologist and is a CCAP. She also has done her certification in clinical hypnotism.

She has over 16 years of work experience as a psychologist.

Ms. Purohit has conducted multiple training programs for medical officers, paramedical, teachers, psychologist, counselors and Special educators. She works as a visiting psychologist in many hospitals.

Ms. Purohit regularly writes articles for newspapers and appears on local & national television and radio talk show on mental health. She is passionately working on project on suicide prevention, learning disability, and autism.

Ms. Purohit stated working as a clinical psychologist at Govardhan hospital Amravati in 2003 and currently works at the district government hospital .Amravati. She has received numerous awards and recognition in the field of mental health.
